The price depends mostly on how big the area is, whether tiles need to be hacked, and which waterproofing system the surface needs. Two bathrooms of the same size can cost very differently if one needs hacking and retiling and the other can be treated without hacking.

Not always. Where the tiles and screed are still sound, our non-hacking waterproofing treats the area over the existing surface — less dust, less noise and a shorter job. Hacking is needed when tiles are hollow or cracked, the screed is soaked, or the old membrane has failed. We will tell you which applies after the inspection.

For inter-floor leaks in HDB flats, HDB's position is that the upper and lower floor flat owners are jointly responsible for the repair. In condominiums, the leak is generally presumed to come from the unit above, and the MCST may be involved if common property is affected. It helps to have a clear inspection report before speaking to your neighbour.

It depends on the area and method. A non-hacking treatment is quickest. A job with hacking takes longer because it adds demolition, screeding, curing between coats, a ponding test and retiling. Your quote states the expected duration and when the area can be used again.

A sealant can hold back a small, obvious gap for a while. It does not fix a failed membrane or a leak that enters somewhere else, and it can hide the problem until the damage is larger. Finding the true source takes experience and the right tests.
